Product Owner About encompass

encompass is the creator of Know Your Customer (KYC) automation for major financial and professional service firms globally. It is a provider of simultaneous, real-time access to multiple sources of global company and person data.  By using robotic search to discover everything a KYC policy demands, encompass delivers more efficient processes and faster, safer regulatory compliance, resulting in lower costs and superior risk management.

At encompass we believe that the best decisions are made when people understand the full picture. So our team created a new way to automatically search, review and manage information from public registries, credit bureaus, property/asset valuation sites and a growing range of trusted KYC data streams across the world.

Today we have offices in Glasgow, London and Sydney and a rapidly expanding international team.

About the Role

This is an awesome opportunity to take our product to the next level by ensuring that our software delights our customers and delivers tangible value to their business.

You’ll be responsible for delivering the product vision and strategy for encompass. To achieve this, you’ll work with various internal and external parties, operating as the key member of a technical release squad of developers, QAs, technical architects and subject matter experts.  Working within the Product Management team and alongside Product Proposition Managers, your role is to execute the product roadmap in partnership with the release squad. Gain a deep understanding of user needs, determine the best path to improving product market fit and working with all areas of the business to execute.

As a key member of the Product Management Team, you’ll report directly to the Head of Product.  This is a full time, onsite, opportunity in our Glasgow office.

Work with the Head of Product, Product Proposition Managers, UX Designers and other stakeholders to contribute and refine ideas and solutions that evolve the product vision and road map

  • Take ownership of features and components of the product roadmap and drive delivery in partnership with the release squads to achieve both specific release and long term product goals

  • Clearly and concisely articulate and manage product development requirements, through written and verbal means, breaking down and refining product functional specifications and user stores, and mocking-up wireframes (with the help of UX Designer as needed) and basic visuals / flows to support delivery where required

  • Be willing and able to go outside the Product Owner responsibilities when required and where you deem it will add value.  Be curious, independent and clear in your thinking and communication.

  • Take initiative - if something needs to be done, think clearly about the customer and product value and do it, with purpose and speed. Seek guidance from Product Managers, Head of Product and other stakeholders when needed.

  • Agree release plans and manage the development and QA team within release squads through to completion within the required timeframes.  Always know what is is happening with a release and anticipate future status based upon current scope and timelines. Own the release.

  • Understand the product roadmap deeply - contribute to it, challenge it, break it apart and add customer value at all times.

  • Manage and appropriately prioritise required features and the product backlog both within a release and across releases

  • Usability testing of designs and features

  • Break down functional specifications into JIRA development tickets for development as required.

  • Understand the company’s product through-and-through in order to answer team and customer questions and, above all, deliver customer value through the product

  • Attend customer and partner meetings to answer questions and understand product requirements to build these back into the product roadmap.

  • Be available for the team in the Scrum ceremonies

  • Manage the timely development of the product road map alongside customer requirements

  • Break down development functional specifications into clear and manageable JIRA tickets and manage the development team creating them through sprint and release management

  • Work with QA to test and manage new features to identify and log improvements and issues to resolve and to build these into further improve specifications

  • Analyse the product capabilities, UI and UX in order to define improvements and realise gaps in the product that fail to meet customer requirements and manage the improvements that need to be made

  • Communicate new releases to relevant stakeholders through visual content that can be used as the basis of internal and market communications
